This week and last week we celebrated El Día de los Muertos in Spanish classes (although the "hurricane" days put a bit of a damper on our plans). The Day of the Dead is celebrated in Mexico and some Latin American countries as well as by many Mexican Americans. It takes place on November 1 and 2 and is a celebration that honors ancestors. It is a happy celebration in which people remember the lives of their loved ones who have passed away. The Pixar movie Coco, which comes out November 22 in theaters, has a lot to do with this cultural celebration and the way Mexicans view death. I definitely plan on seeing it!
