Throughout the year, classes have been earning points toward prizes. They earned a point at the end of each class as long as they worked well. At the start of each Spanish class, we start with one students saying the rules and everyone else repeating: "Ojos miran Oídos escuchan Boca está cerrada Manos están tranquilas Pies están tranquilos" Meaning... "Eyes are looking Ears are listening Mouth is closed Hands are calm Feet are calm" If they follow the rules as a team all class, they earn a point. For the first half of the year the points were in the form of smiley faces and for the second half of the year we switched to stars. I gave small prizes twice throughout the year to Mrs. Smith's class and Mrs. Breault's class at Ashaway and Mrs. Abbotts and Mrs. Ricci's class at Hope Valley for having the most smiley faces. But the class at each school that had the most in TOTAl at the end of the year earned the BIG prize. So on the morning of Fourth Grade Sendoff at Hope Valley, Señora Ricci's class got their BIG prize and on the second to last day of school Señora Breault's class got their BIG prize.... PIÑATAS! Take a look at the pictures to see how much fun they had breaking open the piñatas to find the prizes inside. Each student took home two small prizes ranging from bracelets to mini airplanes to lizard toys. It was a great time and I can't wait to see which classes get to do it next year! Mrs. Zonfrilli's class at Hope Valley wrote a story in English called "Last Aventuras de Time, Molly, y Beckett". On Friday they read their story to Mr. Fanning's class. Here are some photos of their stories and illustrations.
Have a wonderful summer and I'll see all of my amigos again in August! Good luck to my soon-to-be fifth graders next year!
