Happy first day of fall! Below I have shared a picture of what Kindergarteners have been working on. They made self-portraits and wrote their name on the bottom with "me llamo..." which means "my name is...". If they have not brought there own self-portrait home, they will be soon! The example below is from Mrs. Abbott's class at Hope Valley. I also wanted to share with you this adorable picture of Miss D'Agostino's class at Hope Valley on Thursday. We were singing our numbers song (uno, dos tres, cha-cha-cha) when some students decided to start a conga line! I even asked if they knew what it was called and a few students did know what it was a conga line. I think other students wanted to join in but were nervous about getting in trouble. Next time, I'll have to get them all dancing around the room! I will be at Hope Valley for Open House next Wednesday... you can find me helping out with the book fair. I was not at Ashaway Open House but am available to talk if you send me an email or request to meet with me. Have a good weekend!

Welcome new families and welcome back to returning families! I once again am teaching Spanish to all classes at Hope Valley and am teaching K-2 and Mrs. Ornburn's class at Ashaway. I am also teaching Miss Cormier's class at Richmond this year! If any of those is your class then you are in the right place! Classes have been busy at work these past few weeks reviewing their Spanish and learning new topics! Kindergarten is quickly picking up Spanish words including Hola - hello, Amigos - friends, Amigo - friend (boy), Amiga - friend (girl), Me llamo - my name is, and even some numbers and colors! First grade is learning new feeling words including Tengo hambre- hungry, Tengo sed - thirsty, Feliz - happy, and Triste- sad. Second grade has proven very quickly that they can sing the days of the week in Spanish and put them in order. We are already moving on to weather this week. Third and Fourth grade are learning how to talk about FOOD in Spanish! They are learning to talk about different meals, what they like and don't like to eat, what time they eat, and how to describe meals in terms of the MyPlate guidelines (the new "Food Pyramid"). Fourth grade also made "banderas" - flags about themselves in Spanish. They are hanging in the bulletin boards on the way to the cafeteria in both Ashaway and Hope Valley. Take a look at this sample of their work below! If you have any questions or comments throughout the year, please email me at [email protected]. I look forward to a great year! |
